The Jussie Smollet cover up is the final nail for the Democrats. With Michelle Obama’s chief of staff directly involved in the cover up and sealing of the court case, with the inevitable investigations as to why she got involved, all Trump has to do is to keep his mouth shut (admittedly an unreasonable assumption!) while the Dems will continue to shoot themselves in the foot. There are already reports of dissent in the Obama camp over the issue, with even Rahm Emmanuel and Trump in agreement.
It seems to me unlikely that the Dems will be able to rescue themselves from this pit of corruption going right back to the last Democratic president’s office. Hard core Dems will always vote for the blue donkey, of course, but what would persuade floaters to support a party with so much sleaze surrounding so many of them? Mueller’s report was bad enough for them, but at least that was at arms length. Direct involvement in covering up a fake gay/racist hate crime is surely the last straw.
