Jordanm,
not much really the way I am developing my system.
when I say "scanner" i mean getting data, processing it and using filters to narrow down the number of stocks with which one can manually make an assessment and choose to place a trade
when i say algo, it means taking it to the next level where human involvement is removed from the final stock selection and trades are determined automatically
Im nearly at the "algo" stage, I have a little bit more work to do, then I will start logging automated "paper" trades and then assess the performance of them
I have about 5-7 specific trade setups I am looking to test
unfortunately i dont have enough market depth and course of sale data to back test some strategies so i can only forward test.
Even if I come up with an effective system, some human involvement or additional coding will be needed in order to tell the system to not trade as I am focusing mainly on long only set ups
