i agree the exact caltex bid was never disclosed but i recall an afr article estimated their bid was in the aud1.3-1.5bill range.
i can see why you are upset as a ctx shareholder, but i think this is a good deal for wow. bp is committed to continuing loyalty programs and joint funding the fuel dockets, and the convenience store jv will be good promotion and margins for wow.
i think banducci is doing exactly what needed to be done by selling off the under performing businesses.
the question is whether the board wastes a fortune in discounting or whether they can implement a strategy which optimises the highest return on capex.
im not an expert in running supermarkets so that will be a tough challenge, but the capital allocation risks and the external threats from new players appear fully priced into the metrics at present. aldi's share appears to be plateauing and amazon/ costco are early in their strategy so apart from some novelty interest from the early adopter consumers, i dont see them getting more than 5% market share in the next 2-3 years.
i dont see a rise above $26 until next report, but if the outlook and sales growth/ margins are good, then the market will reward holders.
im holding and looking to take profit at $26 unless the news is better than expected in which case ill sit tight and ride it up higher.
