For whatever reason a stock runs, it is up to individuals to judge if the trigger announce has merrit.

If its for sale at 70c, you and only you decide if you want to buy as an investment.

If you are buying to trade as momentum, you take the risk.

For that matter the announcement could have said 1 billion butterflies, and if it was running hot, traders would still buy it, and YES, those who lose, will always whinge about it.
