Other media reports state the govt wish to increase mining revenue to 20% of GDP from the current 2% and that the govt has endorsed SVM and their graphite project.

Mutharika is on record saying Malawi has no minerals and has done zero to progress mining and has failed to table and implement the new "mines and minerals bill" - which Massi has stated it will be tabled in May parliament sitting which in no means suggests it will be passed. The current legislation means President has 100% control of land and minerals - he certainly made sure the ruby mine fiasco went through with no EITI for a princely sum under the table and future royalties in his already bulging pockets.
He is also - as president able to hand pick his cronies that are far from skilled at their position but promise not allegiance and not to rock the boat or he simply dismisses them or places them like Tony Abbott.

Elections next year will see Mutharika gone simply because he and his hand picked cronies have increased corruption and failed to deliver to the people anything he promised.

Grain Malunga is a genuine ripper - very knowledgeable and shares such with articles. He also has interests in a couple of mining companies. The only progress made is by foreign international aide programs or independent groups in Malawi.

2019 elections will be of great interest and very timely.
