    Hello everyone,
I have been looking over Torrens, and was wondering if I have got the right idea about the company.

From a quick count, TEY have a total of 19 GELs, of which 2 are in Melbourne, and the rest are in Adelaide (with one GEL in Port Augusta).

The Adelaide GELs propose to explore the South Australian Heat Flow Anomaly (SAHFA), which are known to underlie a proven layer of insulating sediment. Specifically, they are targeting Adelaide Geosyncline, which they propose has a high thermal gradient (target temp. of 190C @ 3800m-4600m, I believe?).

The company is not only targeting HHP granite, but metamorphics and volcanics too, though the thermal conductivity of these has been only roughly modelled based on outcropping examples.

Clearly, the geological prospectivity of the GELs is there, but no target-depth measurements can verify any of the claims. This is no major concern, as, with the exception of GDY, no target-depth measurements have been made by any geothermal company.

What seems fascinating about Torrens is the commercialisation paths they propose to follow. Desalinisation is an excellent use of geothermal technology, though it is not an exceptionally lucrative use. Similarly, pre-heating the working fluid for a coal-fired plant is an interesting concept, but it will not provide returns comparable to full power generation. This is not a major concern.

The direction taken seems to be clever indeed. Very high temperatures (i.e approaching 300C) will be needed for an economically competitive geothermal power plant. To develop further uses for geothermal fluid shows foresight, and the potential for a viable business model is high. All GELs are on the national grid, aren't they?

TEY addresses two major issues Australia is concerned with: emissions and water. The unique business model should see a steady future for Torrens. I was skeptical of this company at first, thinking it was just another outfit only looking for suitable power-generation conditions. There is more to Torrens than this one agenda.

The board is shaky, I gather, but has looked good so far, with an interesting recent addition. The prospectus was the best I've read. Very informative for the any new geothermal speculators.

Does anyone know the schedule for upcoming events? Is there any market sensitive news? I see they have applied for a REDI grant, but this will not be enough to fund the first phase of deep-drilling.

I think I'll getting a small parcel of those options today. Best value out of the two, it seems.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Does anyone agree/disagree with these ideas?

    Thanks.
