It's all crap. My understanding is that Iran is simply biding its time until Trump departs the White House.
Actual Iranian policies are hard to discern because power struggles within Iran (in its economic state of woe) are at best confused.
I don't know Khamenei's current state of health. I understand he is shaping various inner circles with extremists and hard liners whose popularity has undoubtedly risen in the face of Trump's policies.
