Yeah it affects it, good pickup. For valuation/purchasing a share now and taking a long term view, I'm using the ordinary dividend of 0.075 multiplied by 2 as that's the part I would expect to be ongoing. I don't want past dividends that I don't expect to continue and special divs affecting it.
This is a charting thread, so it might not be appreciated here but someone asked why 2.5%?
I don't think that Telstra is going to grow revenue and thus dividend stream in the near future. Where would extra revenue come from?
Also, I believe they're going to be spending large amounts to install and maintain a new mobile network, limiting future dividends.
The Share Price is driven by valuation AND sentiment. Sentiment is up which IMO is driving the price higher.
Results are out soon, any sort of wobble could affect both components.
