That's not quite correct Buddy2, Yes Spirals do use gravity to as the motive force to drive the flow, This then imparts a centrifugal force on the suspended particles. Both of these, centrifugal and magnetic forces can be varied as the material is moving down the concentric and so it should be possible to design the magnetic fields to enhance the separation.
