Orion, interesting but touchy subject when we get into talking about investor psychology, maybe some of us have masochistic tendencies?
One thing is for sure I don't think we have many short termers left in CST, lost most of them many, many years ago.
Every investor is different, can't say I have a 5 year time frame to see results, particularly in a very strong bull market as we have had for the last few years. That
can be very hard on the hip pocket.
Are we too close to the stock?, personally speaking I have been there, done that several times, Researched a company to death, knew most of the senior executives well, could sometimes tell them bits and pieces about their company that they did not know, drew up wonderful spread sheets, etc. Purely speaking for my own actions with hindsight later I realised that during these years of being close to these 2 companies I developed a pretty strong subconcious bias, sort of accentuate the positive, disregard the negative which led me to be way overweight in the stock. An ego thing, determined to prove I was correct?
Fairly expensive exercise both times, thus these days I continually try to sit on the fence and weigh up both sides of any situation and also spread my bets more evenly rather than trying to win Lotto on one stock.
But, as the frogs say, viva la difference!
