very similar to when horses were the mode of transport and all of a sudden cars came along.
Cars were expensive like solar but with incentives and uptake the logistics and cost diminished.
I was selling solar systems in 2012 in NSW when a 5KW system cost $45k and the FIT was 66c/kwh which included the power companies 10% uplift.
WOW times change fast.
Hopefully solar glass will be all the rage in a few years time
