One thing I thought of when reading this thread is in regard to insect repellents.

I have just done about half a year in the outback and, of course even in winter some days the flies are very annoying.

When out walking or fossicking in the fly'ie areas - we took deet for the job - which worked a bit, but not 100% - it also leaves you a sticky mess and god knows what it does poison wise to us.

We began hearing about a magic repellent that you could get in Alice Springs - a natural product that comes in cream form.

Now - I don't know how good it is for ticks - but, it really worked well for us on flies and anything else that was around - it worked far better than deet on the flies.

It is also pleasant to apply and pleasant to wear - and, I assume safe it is herb based - and, it also seems to moisturize the skin.

I think it would be well worth a shot for ticks - I would try it and see if the little things hate it.

The name of the stuff is Natures Botanical - and you can buy it from Desert Dwellers in Alice Springs and, they can post it (08) 8953 2240.

I have just had a google of the stuff and you can buy it online as well - and, they seem to have a lot of other stuff.
