For people developing serious reactions to tick bites it could be a lifesaver to move to a cooler climate. We moved, for a number of reasons, from the Northern Beaches in Sydney to the Southern Highlands - no ticks at all here. In fact was fine in Sydney until the bandicoots converged on our yard after my Jack Russell dog passed away in 2009 and within a year was getting bad reactions from tick bites, but nothing anywhere near anaphylaxis, just massive local swelling and dreadful itch that took weeks to go. So good to be free of those bites and the risk of Lyme disease.
