Mowwibie, My partner and I live in Avalon , NSW, purportedly the tick Capitol of Australia. Apparently the bandicoots carry them here. Recently my partner almost died from a anaphalactic reaction to tick picked up at the local beach. When we go out walking, my partner wears one of those tick devices which allegedly emits a force field, puts on a hat and carries two epipens. Just some sensible precautions and no need to change lifestyle. Oh yeah , it's true about the red meat reaction. After an anaphalactic reaction to a tick you have be be wary of red meat for a bit as the enzyme in the tick toxin can set of another adverse reaction when after eating red meat.
