Sailorgirl, No one sportsman should ever be above the rules of that sport,the olympics is not about winning at any cost it is about competing and sportsmanship.
I would love to see thorpie there but he broke a rule and was disqualified unfortunately he has got to cop that sweet,the bit i dont understand and it is probably up to his trainer to notify him of the rules is that he walked straight back to the block and was obviously the only person there thinking it was previous rules and he had another chance.
In a nutshell there is no good blaming the governing body, he could have gave them a start and a beating.
Instead of going on about thorpie why don't we get behind hackett and give him all the encouragement he needs to do it for us and bring home gold.
