Yes and in here lies the problem, you wrote 'A visual inspection with proper tools would have identified no significant lithium minerals.' - this is not correct, even with an eye glass it's very hard to spot the spodumene, sometimes it has a green tinge, sometimes another specific 'look.' You need to remember this is in the field or coreyard and the geo is doing the best he can but he's not looking for a specific characteristic of the spodumene he's actually looking for zoning and other minerals like tantalum to give him a feel for whether it's an LCT.
