Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Pilgangoora for example is quite obvious (to me anyway) but looking at the core photos ESR showed, it did look a fair bit like the KDR core. Hard to tell from those photos. I wouldn't be too hard on the geologist, although can understand investors' frustration. Field observations by geologists are always subject to lab assay and/or formal mineral ID work - and there is always a risk this unfortunate situation can arise.
Of more interest is who was trading in the days leading up to the announcement - the price action suggests there was a leak but unless it was someone from the Company or the lab it will be hard to prove.
Tenements still look quite prospective to me.
