I personally agree the roles of regulator and market participant are incompatible and need to be split. I also think there needs to be more transparency in stock lending and covered short trading. Having said that, I'm not sure the trading in DIO has been that unusual. It's a volatile stock, and you can't blame short-term traders for selling it once it hists their stop loss point. That again will trigger more selling. If they can sell it down to my stop loss point, currently 1.01, I'll be selling it too. So what? There's always something else to buy.
