Excellent point RE the accounting. I was going to ask @flexiroam if they could answer that? I believe it was mentioned as catalyst for an increase in Direct Costs, in their most recent quarterly and was listed as a cash flow item.
I completely disagree re the corporate voice, and this is why the local DID is less important. Most corporate phone systems these days have an app that allows you to take your extension anywhere you have decent WiFi or 4G. This can be to work from home or abroad, and most include IM, collaboration, video, presence etc. Skype for Business comes with every O365 license on earth. The reason I liked FRX Vs ZIP or NOR was that they realised with their initial apps failure that there was no value in torching funds trying to be the next WhatsApp/Skype?Viber/Line. Instead they identified an innovative solution that would compliment how business users want to use the service. If anything, I'd argue the local indial is more applicable to the consumer market, in the case of your Uber driver trying to contact you for instance.
Just imagine if Grab or Uber understood the customer benefit they could have could take out Flexiroam for a few million bucks and have direct cellular access to their customers on a private network. When I travelled with Flexiroam X in the US last year, there was nothing better than being able to walk outside the range of the airport WiFi at LAX and hop straight into my Uber, without stressing or mucking around getting a SIM after an 18 hour flight. Even the traffic jam was OK. Was able to get in contact with my AirBnB hosts and check the train timetable in downtown.
Even sitting in your iPad it a really nice to have without sacrificing your number.
