    It was obvious to me from early on that this would quickly switch from a 'free' to 'paid' data model, but this is more expensive for casual users...

    Eg.
    Say someone who take 3 overseas trips a year and uses 200MB of data each trip.

    Previously.
    $10 subscription + $30 (for 1GB) = $40

    Now.
    Either
    3x$20 for 500/30Day activation = $60

    The new European roaming rules that become active on 15-Jun also mean that almost any Euro SIM will have free roaming thru Europe
