    A solid majority?

Only one British person understood the full details surrounding the common market arrangements under which the country joined up in the early 70s. The fact that this one person, Edward Heath, lied through his back teeth about the details (and the future plans) means the country has taken close to 50 years to fully understand the reality of the decision.

That deceit and the future crap that was served up to the trusting British public is, possibly, best exemplified by Tony Blair's entry in to politics on a platform of taking Britain out of the common market. No typo there, dear old Tony promised he'd be at the forefront of the campaign to get Britain out of the EEC. A promise he stuck to right up to the point he secured his seat at Sedgefield in 1983. It's amazing what truckloads of cash, titles and privileges will do to a young and energetic mp's political outlook.

Fortunately for Brexiteers the biggest opponent to Britain's departure is quite unequivocal. Unlike Edward Heath or Tony Blair, Guy Verhofstadt reads like an open book. Any suspicion that the ultimate goal of the EU beaurecrat may not be a centralised power hungry militarized Europe is eliminated by the words of this particular lunatic.

Brexit is essential for Britain. The mountains of legislation passed in Europe that the elected politicians in London have no influence upon and yet directly impacts Britain is a testament to that. They don't need a second referendum, the constitutional will is there, that is all they need to enact the departure. That, and a government that actual gives more than a mouse-sized turd for the people it is meant to serve.
