I think some of the issues can be that parents sometimes don’t know when to stop being parents and just be equals. Grown adults mostly still have parents, and are even parents themselves, and don’t need or appreciate still being parented. The animal world let go of their young at maturity, humans tend to cling, which can cause the angst. As for the apple and the tree analogy, spot on. The intolerance displayed in HC by so many posters shows that their children are probably of a similar mindset. Therefore when their parents get on a bit and start showing signs of different behaviour then the kids intolerance will come home to roost. I notice some of the more intolerant people in HC don’t have children which is probably a good thing.
