cobber321: Both the terms 'socialism' and 'capitalism' have outlived their usefulness some time ago, maybe in the 90s of last century. We are facing a brave new world where new models of interacting with each other and the world are being tried and tested.
What else, if not totally egalitarian, is the internet and everything that comes with it; like the logarithms of Facebook, the Twitter sphere, which even allows an almost illiterate like Donald Trump, to make himself heard and 'influence people', which allows political campaigns to spread far and wide. Similar the use of the mobile phone and similar gadgets which connect everyone who wants it to the whole world (I am selective in both media).
Egalitarian IMO (socialist, if you like), even though I haven't thoroughly researched it, is the sudden appearance of alternative means of payment - 'money' - which has similarity to picking up pebbles on the beach and calling it 'money' and has the potential to allow everyone to have the means of survival? This alternative 'money' threatens the very existence of banks, who are regarded as the bastion of capitalism, turning 'socialist' when they are in trouble, i.e. taking our money to pay their debts.
I wish to live long enough to see what these bright new ideas are going to bring us, whether they, too, will serve only to enrich certain individuals or institutions or whether they will help us on a communal path to a better, less prejudiced life for all. The very fact that I can exchange idease with a total stranger on this subject just via my computer and the internet is a total marvel to me - still is and I appreciate it every day.
