Thank you hunchback33 for separately verifying what I understood to be the situation. I am amazed that the DMP has not gotten involved directly to uphold the integrity of the PGER Act and negate what appears an attempt by Buru and Backreef Oil to be overly clever and make a mockery of the permit application process. Perhaps they are watching the outcome of the SAT proceedings like we all are.

Buru have been a favoured son here in WA with a State Agreement that no other petroleum explorer has. Understand this was through the Premier's department while the DMP was not involved. Questions will eventually arise about how successful this picking of winners is (arguably continuing to ignore or not facilitating all the other triers) , particularly as Buru appears well behind in its timeline to provide meaningful gas to WA. All this with a blind eye also to how it does business.

As for Sunbeam-1, while it may indeed be good for OBL, the indications are that Buru is not going the full yard and the well is a quick, shallow obligation well so Buru can merely fulfil the work program in EP129.
Nevertheless it may well have some positive overtones for OBL's Backreef Area. OBL was never given due credit for shows in the dolomites there which, as Buru is to drill at Sunbeam-1, is undoubtedly the northern part of the Ungani dolomite oil in the south with the Fitzroy Trough in the middle.
