Tau, I have posted this before a long time back, but its relevant.
A long time back, before tv news, the radio was warning us up here to be aware of a daring daytime "bandit", but what it wasnt telling us was that the guy was Aboriginal, bashing and raping women he encountered in the house he broke into.
My wife's best friend knew one of the women, and she had been bashed black and blue...... she saw the damage.
Nothing happened until the 13th woman, from memory, happened to be the wife of a police officer. THEN, the perpetrator was caught up with in Meekathara. Cant remember what he got.
BUT, if from day one the radio had warned of a raping, bashing, Aboriginal, everyone in town would have watched for him, and some of those women would have been spared. PC correctness to alleviate local racial tensions caused great harm to some poor women. Yes, we had racial tensions due to a popular young guy being killed in the main street by an Aboriginal, and I had heard of some Aboriginals being painted white.
So the PC brigade (and Police) tried to reduce tensions by not disclosing what the daylight burglar was actually doing. That was a crime in itself.
