The polar vortex and the jet stream contracted up until the 2000. You have acknowledged that. It is even considered a fingerprint of the science. The key driver for a cooling stratosphere is CO2 according to the IPCC. And accordingly a contracting Polar vortex (PV) is the result of a cooling stratosphere as per the IPCC assessment via observations.
So we have two problems with the junk NASA GISS chart below which shows that CO2 is not in lockstep with the IPCC's take on the PV. That is right! A cooling stratosphere is NOT in sync with the polar vortex / jet stream.
Now mjp this is where you come a cropper with your BS that is stand alone and not in sync with the IPCC. And if it is not in the IPCC report then it is not good science.
A warming stratosphere is now responsible for the loosening of the PV. Which is rather funny because we do know as fact that Stratospheric Warming events are INDEED what is responsible for these polar Vortex excursions
