Stratosphere warming is consistent with a wavy jet stream. YES IT IS Because the IPCC have confirmed via observations that the cooling stratosphere contracts the Polar vortex and they have also confirmed that a increasing greenhouse gas (ozone) in the Stratosphere (not troposphere) will negate troposphere ghgs. What does GHGs in the stratosphere do mjp. i know what the IPCC think it does. Do you agree with them or disagree
Since the climate shift of the 70s the polar jetstream has contracted as OBSERVED by the IPCC. But of late the jet stream is showing tendecies of NOT CONTRACTING. aka getting loose! Using the IPCC's own evidence ONE HAS to conclude that the stratosphere is warming or is seeing a increased amount of stratospheric warming events!
They have made clear a stratosphere with more ozone will negate the effects of ghg's. They have made clear a cooling stratosphere will cause the polar vortex to contract.
Declining stratosphere ozone and increasing tropopause ghgs have the same effect on the polar vortex and jetream. The IPCC have made that clear. @mjp2 believes the physics of the southern hemisphere ozone and ghgs is OPPOSITE to the Northern Hemisphere.
Ask your wife that mjp. You inferred she worked at NZ MET. She can put you back on the straight road again mate.
