Yes, but think of it as deferred rather than accelerated amortization.
More should have been written off last financial year than actually was.
Ultimately investors need an accurate reflection of sustaining capital costs in the quarterlys. I think the company could do better in this regard.
...Anyway the money is already spent.
Current cash balance, future capital requirements & meeting production/cost guidance is important now.
