with respect to copyright are you aware of the concept of "a fair dealing" with the work.

Australian law says that fair dealing is a defence to an infringement of copyright. Fair dealing, or "fair use" as it is more often known, is a complex concept. Although fair dealings for the purposes of research or study provide some defence in copying copyright materials, the question of what is "fair" is important. Australia's Copyright Act 1968 gives some guidance and suggests that for works greater than 10 pages, 10% of the number of pages in that edition, or the whole of one chapter of the work is deemed to be a "reasonable portion" of the work. Reproduction of the entire work is almost always unfair, and therefore an infringement of copyright. Fair use for the purposes of review, or replying to somebody's post or academic study again requires that the most minimal use of other people's work be made.
