Renewables are unpredictible. More fake news. Renewables are quite predictible. Sun comes up every day. Weather can be forecasted days out. Renewable output over years has no been documented and modelled to allow for project planning. How could they do that if they were ' unpredictible ' ?

Did it ever occur to you that we might have had more than 100% capacity in the first place. Yes, we had excess capacity in fossil. In other words, more than we needed. We always did. Funny how people claim that backup is a renewables issue only.

Didn't know you were demanding that I calculate the costs.
How about you post the costs ? Let's start with the cost of replacing Australia's coal fleet. That's what you're crew regularly bang on about. New coal power stations. But never a set of numbers to tell us how much it will cost.
Alternatively, the costs of storage are already out there. We have a pretty good idea of what Snowy 2.0 and the Tassie Big Battery will cost, including connection costs etc. We know how much commercial wind and solar cost. That information is widely available. There have been many studies to demonstrate the costs of renewables.

So how about you post some numbers ? It should be easy given the information you already have.

Batteries adding cost ? You mean batteries, such as the Hornsdale battery that are actually saving money because they are preventing gouging thanks to their quick response. Batteries are an important part of a modern flexible better grid.

How about old coal fired power stations breaking down in the heat when we really need them ? I reckon that might be adding cost, don't you ?

The batteries are there to fix problems generated by the renewables. Its all just extra cost for no gain at all.

How much has the Australian temperature dropped as a result of the renewables?
