Batteries are an interesting trade off between cost, performance, safety and weight - as I am sure you all know. At present the inclusion of cobalt with Ni and Mn provides a good balance, high in safety and performance.
EM and Panasonic's plans to save money might go up in flames along with a few more Teslas.
