If a take over eventuates, the sellers currently selling are the acquirers, ie they are selling into themselves.
I am not saying this is what is happening though, but if it is its not new.
One example I have observed was the take over of AVB by OZL. AVB had strong fundamentals yet its share price was low. Next thing your know OZL ann a take over with a premium of >100%
Now I am not saying this is what is currently happening to SYR, or is going to happen to SYR.
