Yea, thanks Green X, very observant of you ............I'm a Holden fan, through and through. But not only that, I'm a maker. I love making things, and going back to the EH Holden, and on to the HQ, the period from the mid 50's to the early 70's, was a time when Australia reached it's pinnacle in making (manufacturing). I know now that we are serviced based economy (manufacturing employment has dropped from some 30% of the workforce to around 8% now), but somehow it's to our detriment that we are losing our making ability.I recently pulled up at a set of traffic lights, and in front of me was a sleek looking new model Mercedes Benz, a real aerodynamic beast. But along side it, was the latest offering from Sabaru...another aerodynamic beast of a car......and as I looked a little closer, there really wasn't that much difference between the two. Manufacturing (or making) are now making everything the same. We are losing that ability to imagine and make. Ford and Holden in their day were so much more imaginative, and as a result I'm am proud to be restoring a '64 EH ute to a street machine beast.
Oh!.....and back to trading and the psychology of crowds. You remember those school kids I spoke of, catching the bus ?....................well, they have now grown up. I now see them on planes, travelling the world. They now jump to attention as the boarding annoucement is made, eager to line up at the departure gate, excited and clamouring to be the first on board. They don't seem to realise that their seats are allocated and can't seem to sit and wait till everyone else has boarded and then casually stroll to get onboard. Funny that.
And landing is no different. As soon as the 'fasten seat belt' is extinguished and the plane taxi's to the boarding gate, they are already standing in the aisles, trying to disembark...all to no avail, as it is a sequenced procedure, row by row, seat by seat. They can't seem to sit and wait. Primitave crowd behaviour in such a modern world.
As you said........totally predictable.
Good work, Green X.
