In this edition of The Big Picture, we showcase recent press content highlighting the value Nearmap provides:
Analysis using Nearmap’s historical imagery archive and Clean Energy Regulator data of Australia’s areas of highest solar energy adoption
Insight from Mason Willoughby-Thomas, portfolio manager at the Ausbil MicroCap Fund, of the investment case which Nearmap’s business model creates
An interview I conducted with the NGIS Location Matters podcast about the democratisation of aerial imagery, machine learning, and how location intelligence is reshaping emergency response
With the launch of our new blog we have also provided a link to a recent blog entry about how next generation data enables the rollout of next generation telecommunications networks.
Our next edition will be sent to coincide with the release of our full year results for the 12 months to 30 June 2018, on 22 August 2018.

IN THE NEWS: THE MOST SOLAR POSTCODES
It’s a boom era for solar. Using Nearmap’s historical archive of imagery, combined with data from the Clean Energy Regulator, we identified the postcodes in Australia that have shown the highest rates of solar energy adoption in the past 18 years.
Did you notice? We have a brand-new blog! Our latest article is all about the dawning of 5G. The next generation of mobile communications technology is expected to transmit 1GB per second by 2020. We take a look at how network engineers are leveraging high-res 3D data to build robust, fail-proof 5G networks — on time and to budget.
Our US team recently captured a great customer story about Highpoint Engineering, a civil engineering firm based in Canton, MA that caters to the larger Boston metro area. Highpoint especially values Nearmap’s frequency of updates, wide national coverage, and leaf-on/leaf-off imagery for problem-solving across diverse client projects.
Investor Mason Willoughby-Thomas, portfolio manager at Ausbil MicroCap Fund, recently weighed in on how Nearmap’s disruptive camera technology and subscription model lay the groundwork for a strong investment.
Nearmap has “opened up to a broader market than what [aerial imagery] has been traditionally. . . . now, with a subscription product covering a large part of the Australian population, smaller SMEs can access [Nearmap] to add productivity to their businesses,” says Willoughby-Thomas.
Our own Rob Newman recently sat down with Nearmap partner NGIS to talk shop — the democratisation of aerial imagery, what machine learning means for the industry, and how location intelligence is reshaping emergency response.
