    @Orwell Ahhhh, pleased to see someone read that stuff on my gold chart. Thanks for feedback; not enough of that IMO. I have been pondering a response but not a lot of time so I will just put down dome thoughts against your thoughtful response;

    - This funny game we play …. I agree it has always staggered me how little TRUE RESULT info is shared amongst posters; so little real data re traders results

    - I have been following a podcast "chat with traders" (its free and website is here: “chat with traders” which I have found very informative and helps highlight to me what a “mug “ I am for even pretending I can “beat the house” … the odds are stacked against the retail investor … does NOT stop me trying tho’.

    - BTW I note the “world famous” traders on that blog all say their win rate is much less than 50% (which I found surprising); its all in the following (my list)

    1. Psychology of trading,
    2. Risk management
    3. Disciplined system based on an edge

    - Your comment “ego’s and biases makes it hard to really accept our results, let alone publish them” … very true words I suspect!

    - Golf analogy excellent IMO; I was lucky enough to play golf as a lad and played to single figures as a boy; staggers me how BADLY most play the game and they make the same mistake over and over. Analogy to TA as well; just because you have and understand how a golf club works DOES NOT make you a good golfer. Knowing how to TA “works” and even being able to draw/conduct some reasonable chart analysis does NOT necessarily make one a good trader. PS I reckon I am about a 20 handicapper as a trader

    - Interested how you dismissed my Demo trade stats; fair enough. I presented them (and admitted embarrassment) because they highlight the psychological aspect of trading. Its much easier in theory than in practice.

    - Your trade stats presented are very impressive!

    - Your comments re stops very very interesting; I have dabbled with options and binaries for the same reason; I can verify from my early CFD trading that Risk Management DOES NOT EQUAL setting tight stops on the basis that its good to “make your losses small and your wins big” …. The market makers will kill you and at one stage I could have sworn there was someone watching my individual trades and enjoying taking out my stops ….. Of course the reality is that in a snse that is true, we are all just part of the giant psychology (collective unconscious? … another day) of any given market. There is a computer on the end of every trade you place, that does not only know what trade you entered, (before you enter it!), it knows your stop, your limit (if placed) and it knows your bank … bottom line is if enough mugs have a stop say 1% below a current price why wouldn’t a computer that is designed to take your money move price to that position …. I am rambling!

    - Comment re hourly; again I basically agree with yr comments re D, W and M. I found when I got more and more into TA an attraction to shorter time frames. I still remember my joy when I think it was @haspete told me several years ago on XJo thread of the “live” PRT charts that IG offer. I still get a kick out of watching the “tick by tick” or 1 second chart when I have a trade going …. efficient market; BALONEY! I actually swore off hourly chart trading a couple of years ago but was just blown away with the consistency of patterns on the gold chart when I started doing a few for @paddingtonbear over on xso. Worth noting that I have only done these gold trades with "pennies"; intent is that the pounds would follow when I prove a system ... (and I LOVE trading …….. LOL).

    - My “10 position entry” comment merely refers to IG contract entry condition, eg 10 contracts entered, the general spread on gold is $0.50 = $5 loss on entry so with a 2 pip stop I was risking $20 and 5 pip $50 …. A $10 rise in POG = $100 profit etc …. I hope that makes sense?

    -A man short of time has just raved on too long but hopefully something of interest to someone. Interested in anyone elses thoughts as well. I am not sure it belongs on this thread but certainly better than xso?
    Cheers g
