Thanks, Picastoc.
So, one could fairly assume that Labor, via sleazy Bowen, is playing both the Envy card and the Budget management card to out-number the likely Coalition voters who will also be portrayed as most affected. The Coalition are always on the back foot in these "socially sensitive" ploys. Perhaps Coalition Pollies should pay more attention to the ABC Drum to understand how the Oppressor card, Racist card, Women card, Goal-driven card, Aboriginal card, Gender card & Climate change cards can be played by people with PhD's in everything except the subject they are so polished at speaking about. Spread this over the majority of the Journalistic Union connections & those Pollies will realise they don't have any influential friends in the type of media that the average Jane & Joe will be watching or reading.
Mr. Morrison is believable, but he needs to drop any Abbot type three word slogans & buy time on TV to personally convince people that the tax dollars are being spent for the benefit of the right people. I think that should start with a full explanation of the welfare cake from the proportion of tax collected from where; to the numbers of people in different circumstances who receive benefits. Talk to the average folk in language that they will understand ( & perhaps members of his own party)
I'd imagine that the retired, aged population, are voting with their pockets, whether or not they are on any benefits. We have a chip on our shoulders about the out of control hand-outs to the undeserving, the high pay for little effort or accountability in government work, a constitution that permits falsely elected drop-kicks to make crucial decisions in the running of the country, lack of discipline including physical punishment of children & students & similarly, lack of severe punishment for drug dealers. Am I really caring about whether Australia builds more dud submarines or ships? Or would I rather see clever water storage projects, & answers to which are the most efficient plants to collect apparent CO2 excess, ways to educate aborigines with reward for goals achieved, a proven argument for gas powered energy over solar/wind & batteries. Our country is big, desert, dry & empty. It is not Europe, Asia or USA, so our expectations must be that certain infrastructure services are more expensive than the glamourous ones seen in other countries. Maybe we have fair reasons to have unpopular industries & high cost of some services. Do we still have an understanding of "a fair go", or has the Bludger mentality overcome us ??
Sorry, I got carried away. Eighty does that. Cheers, Jim.
