    I put down livestock regularly.

    It is not a task one rejoices in;
    but it's a service farmers and their animals need.

    A month ago the animal was a lovely young hereford heifer.
    Attacked as she was incapacitated following calving.
    Wild dogs killed the calf too.

    The cow had been mutilated at the rear end.

    I use a 30.06 springfield with a 180g expandable 'corelokt' projectile.
    A Swedish Tikka, stainless and plastic rifle.

    This powerful projectile, does not exit the animal or produce bleeding.

    The killer at Christchurch apparently used an AR15, a civilian equivalent of the M16 military.
    Not absolutely positive, because of the lack of knowledge of the reporters.

    These weapons use a .223 or 5.56mm round (sometimes interchangeable, but not always).
    These have a muzzle velocity of up to 3500 feet per sec.
    There is a sharp crack when the rifle is fired.
    Again there is little bleeding.

    Hunters generally don't like this cartridge as it messes up the meat
    (the reason for hunting).

    The mosque film did not show much sound,
    but believe it, it looks the real thing.
