Hi elimb...As a public relations exercise alone I would say there is plenty of fat for us here, even if not much meat in this particular win...

There might be other readers who do not know Golding was founded by “Mr Gladstone” - Cyril Golding who was an enormously valued member of the community ...
I have pasted a story and one of the comments.
It is worth clicking the link and reading the other comments.

    - If NRW/Golding is able to maintain this kind of love despite the translation into public company then that is a very good thing I reckon .

GLADSTONE has lost one of its stalwarts on Sunday after Cyril Golding passed away at a Brisbane hospital surrounded by family and loved ones.

Respected and loved by many, Mr Golding's death will leave a void in the Gladstone region community.

Mr Golding, 92, loved to sing, and he could hold a tune.

He also had a dry sense of humour. His close friend Wendy Barker said that wit was intact to the end.

"He was still able to have a laugh," she said.

Ms Barker travelled to see her friend on Thursday. She was grateful she made the trip.

Mr Golding's local reputation was legendary. He was a businessman and a very successful one.

But he was also a generous benefactor to countless causes.

As founder of the Young Dancers Company of Central Queensland, Ms Barker saw that generosity first-hand.

Mr Golding and his wife Shirley were major sponsors of the company.

Ms Barker said she shared a special bond with Mr Golding.

"We're both old Gladstone. We were born here," she said.

Ms Barker left the region for many years, but when she returned she reconnected with the Goldings.

She said she would miss much about her friend.

"He was quite simply a remarkable man," Ms Barker said.

"He was generous in so many ways."

Mr Golding gave continuously, but was never one to blow his own trumpet.

He was humble and unassuming, Ms Barker said.

She echoed the sentiments of our community leaders.

"He was one of a kind," Ms Barker said.

    "You can't get any better."

Mr Golding founded his earthmoving business as a sole operator in 1942.

He worked for the next 20 years and his business was doing well, but in the mid 1960s he won a contract to work on the construction of QAL.

Cyril has certainly made his mark both on this city and the people within it. He has given his time, advice and donated funds to many people and causes. He ran his business and lived his life with ethics which are poorly lacking in society today. It is easy to be a boss, but very rare to be a leader inspiring those around you. You will be missed by many and will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with Shirley and family - he lived life to the fullest!
