I was a Sydney sider too ....grew up on the Northern Beaches then actually had my first summer job at the Illawarra Mercury a long time back. As ‘Happy Harry’s Beach Girls’ a friend and I travelled around with ‘Happy Harry’, rode merry go rounds, judged sand models, waved, played, swam and threw lollies to children ..... and yes, now I think if it again it does seem to have been a formative experience ...
ie I am mysteriously drawn to sand mandalas .)
