BTW the companies alluded to were, as I remember, Standard Oil, Firestone, and Chrysler. When I read about this some years ago, the beautiful old trams were still stored in LA. An effort to reinstate the system by the city fathers about twenty years ago,failed after a one billion dollar trial using a single track from the Hills down to the sea was abandoned. Ironically it failed becuse of the impossible gridlock...........
