Hi all!
Thought I'd start a new thread for telehealth. Since our company is set to Target this market.
Massive news out of Texas:
State legislature passes bill to expand telemedicine practice in Texas
This recent news unravelling in Texas, America's second largest state is huge for this sector and potentially massive for Resapp. Texas is the last State of 50 allowing companies like Doctor on demand, Careclix, ConsultantADoctor, Teladoc etc to work their magic. Our potential Partners now have a massive opportunity to expand Telehealth service into Texas. Meaning Resapp could be utilised beautifully in this large rural state. With their population sitting at around 28,449,186 million increasing each year by 1.80% , it adds more significant upside to the increasing growth of Telehealth! Interesting data here:

"In the State of Texas, a major piece of telemedicine legislation is sitting on Governor Greg Abbott’s desk. Known as Senate Bill 1107 and House Bill 2697, the bill abolishes the requirement that patient-physician relationships be established with an in-person visit before telemedicine can be used."
It is expected that this is to be signed off very shortly !
“Texas has 35 counties that don’t have a single family physician in them,” Teladoc CEO Jason Gorevic told MobiHealthNews. “They rank 46th in the country in terms of primary care physicians per capita at a time when the state’s population is growing faster than any other state. So the access issues are particularly acute.”

So many interesting bills all over America currently in progression regarding Telehealth/ telemedicine.
"Pressure within Congress to expand Medicare coverage of telehealth and remote monitoring services is approaching critical mass. Multiple bills have recently been introduced with bipartisan support in both the House and the Senate, and a new bipartisan Congressional Telehealth Caucus has been formed in the House."
The Medicare Telehealth Parity Act would change that policy as follows:
The CONNECT for Health Act of 2017 would do the following:
- Allow for the provision of telehealth services in rural, underserved, and metropolitan areas, rather than just rural areas;
- Expand the types of providers who can be reimbursed for telehealth services to include several kinds of allied health professionals;
- Expand access to telestroke services;
- Allow remote patient monitoring for patients with chronic conditions;
- Allow a Medicare beneficiary's home to serve as a site of care for remote dialysis, hospice care, outpatient mental health services, and home health services.
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/880458
- Expand originating sites for telehealth care;
- Create a Medicare remote patient monitoring benefit for certain high-risk, high-cost patients;
- Lift restrictions on the use of telehealth in ACOs and Medicare Advantage plans;
- Urge the Secretary of Health and Human Services to have CMMI evaluate the applicability of telehealth in demonstration projects;
- Authorize a study on the use of telehealth services after restrictions on coverage have been lifted.
So much happening!
All of this works well for Resapp!
Can't wait for commercialisation to occur within our company. We're getting so much closer people hopefully next week we will be One Step Closer with completion of enrolments. Bring on the news, can't wait!!
All the best everyone...
Cheers
