Having watched the presentation I think I got from it that as FHIR (pronounced FIRE) is open source, patent protection for that aspect of MIYA is out the window.
As much of MIYA " is built on modern, highly scalable, industry standard, system software", is there any hope for patent protection?
I absolutely agree with the principle of one standard for future healthcare data exchange , in order for it to be global. Indeed, as I have stated for many many years, I think much healthcare data for global exchange to a central co-ordinating body e.g. the WHO should be gathered "at the coal face" i.e. the doctor and specialist appointment with the patient. This would result in early detection of possible plagues, previously unrecognised drug side-effects, evidence-based effectiveness of treatment etc etc, all coming more or less in real time from a large sample with minimal need for double-blind crossover trials.
