Mirish, I live in Melbourne and we have had a zonal system since ERG one the contract here many moons ago. Llast year our Govt reduced the number of zones from 3 to 2 due to commuter fury at cost from outer areas. This has proveda boon to public transport and the trains are bulging. I do not understand why NSW Govt do not do the same here, unless there rolling stock is in poorer condition than ours and the system is actually stretched now (Melbourne is very close to that now). That may be another reason that the NSW Govt is unwilling to do this as with any further increase in patronage the system (rolling stock) would be shown to be unable to cope
