Yes, you are absolutely right. many kids will be subjected unnecessarily
to highly toxic drugs with horrible side effects -I know closely someone
who had been on them and felt so sick that wanted to die,
but the unpleasant aspect of the side effects is the least of the problems they create
compared to the harm they do to the body which can only be justified if one
will be saved from a fatal TB but not if they are not infected.

In regards to

I wonder who really should inform the public/parents etc which choices are in their
best interests especially when the system is so slow to be implemented?

I believe this is where CST Co should finally come in as the medical bureaucrats
will take their time, unless there's pressure or demand or someone pays with their
life after a misdiagnosis followed by authorities being sued etc.
