The last paragraphs are borderline journalism IMO.
"On Thursday night, Environment Tasmania issued a statement calling on Tassal to confirm the replacement pigment will not be genetically modified.
"We commend Tassal for responding to consumer concerns. Environment Tasmania would like further information on the source of this colouring, so that we can assure consumers that the astaxanthin companies will now use to colour the flesh of their salmon is not produced using genetic modification," Laura Kelly, strategy director at Environment Tasmania, said."
Environment Tasmania (ET) should not have been given space on the ABC website with an unsubstantiated statement.
ET should have provided references that anyone in the world is even researching genetically modified source of astaxanthin. (before they are quoted)
It is a feeble to suggest any company would replace a chemical coloring with a GM color to improve their "clean and green" image.
Ninja Tuna, did this last paragraph appear when you posted? (I note the page was "Updated about 9 hours ago" and after you posted)
