Olympic dam...as big as that is...took 9 "dud holes" before they hit significant copper mineralisation in hole 10...then another 6 duds before they finally cracked decent intersections again...so 17 holes to confirm a major discovery.
The first drill hole at Olympic Dam (RD1), located near the Olympic Dam stock watering hole on Roxby Downs station, intersected sub-economic copper mineralisation around 300m+ depths.
Even major targets can take some time to find.
