In "The Magic of Africa" shown recently on channel 7 tv station there were some great scenes of every day life in modern Tanzania, of Dar el Salaam, suburbs & country train stops. I missed the first bit so I don't know if Zanzibar got a mention. Showed the town life with very busy traffic & bustling sidewalks, large ugly 2 storey concrete villas with high walls & iron gates where the elite live. Did not see any men on bikes selling gas bottles to customers as they hit a spanner on the cylinder to announce their wares.
A new luxury passenger train has begun to operate once again, after the years of turmoil, from Dar al Salaam to Johannesburg or Capetown, longer than Sydney to Perth. Takes quite a few days. Sort of an Orient Express, but an African Express. Showed the new train stopping at remote country locations for passengers. But the travelogue wasn't like the old Fitsgerald(?) gazettes, "and so we say farewell to lovely Tanganyika".
In the future we might see the gas sellers cycling around Dar & Zan with the gas cylinders clearly marked
