If Jamie Oliver has his way (that I support) a sugar tax will be the start to killing the sugar industry.
Have you watched "that sugar film" or there was a kiwi doco that was about sugar effecting NZ residends. I cannot remember the number. But x amount of people would loose a leg or a foot due to sugar.
Anyway, wouldn't CSR's down turn be related to the housing market, I thought majority of their revenue was from building products. When is sugar cane usually harvested? Also where are the crops located? I also thought the USA was the largest producer of sugar, (through corn)
