Mkr the big difference b/w these 2 situations is that IHA is the single largest by far, hence it is in prime position to make an offer, whereas McDonald Jones never was the single largest and hence any takeover by them was unlikely to win as the Simond family always had the biggest stake. I would suspect if McDonald Jones was the largest and the Simond family where not there or where willing sellers they would have made an offer for SIO.
Another point is housing in Aust is on the nose wheres ISU has great technology that IHA could use for its vast operation. Let's not forget IHA just raised over £600m so is sitting on a war chest. As IHA Aust operations are not the largest of IHA's I think they very well intend to make a takeover and use ISU's technology for its vast overseas operations.
I could be wrong as they could just want to buy a blocking stake, but this doesnt make sense and also a blocking stake, all one needs is 10%, not 19.99%....

Agree mate you have some very valid points
However ISU has been in this TO target position before only for no fruitful result... you reckon “this time is different” ?
