I think only 18% of unitholders bought into the rights issue, but they bought ~45% of the shares on offer.
It's true that Brookfields are probably getting a great deal out of the issue, but it's because most shareholders are disinterested, allowing the SP to fall so low. I am quite happy with the rights issue.
I think the $0.39 was not particularly attainable with such debt problems, but I think $0.13 is more accurate now without the debt problems. I am happy to buy in at $0.05 if my investment will rise to ~$0.13 over time.
Before the raising I doubt the SP would ever have risen to $0.39, rather it would have fallen further because of ongoing financial problems.
So we're sacrificing NTA for a more sure future.
